      2. Hi, now 2020, do you have new vocal analyses??? I wait them for a long time. Fighting, i hope i’ll see more in this year. Thank you so much!

    1. In truth,Jung sewoon, boy ranked 12nd and become a solo artist after produce 101 s2. Main vocal in Wanna one except Kim jae hwan is Ha sung woon.

  2. Hello! I don’t know if you take requests but I would love to see DreamCatcher’s Siyeon, Yoohyeon and SuA (maybe JiU too) analysed (they all debuted as DreamCatcher this year but debuted as MinX in 2014)
    here are some live performances:

    (wow that’s a lot)

also I want to ask if you could analyse this performance? If not that’s okay! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WWqN3DK_zec

  3. Lol i wonder why BTS V is analyzed when they are lots of good vocalists on the “will never get analyzed list” like 9muses Sera. It kinda puts off the credibility of this page tbh.

    Like

    1. What’s your definition of a good vocalist, if I may ask? The people on the “never going to be analyzed list” break the rules we established with 1. rappers, 2. Analyzing more than half of the vocalists in a group and 3. Analyzing ex-members of groups, like Sera. Analyzing V breaks none of these rules, but if we WHOM we analyze is what causes you to doubt our credibility instead of reading the analyses, then it feels like to me that you’re just looking for an excuse to discredit what we do…if that’s so, if you’re not reading the content and not reading the rules but focusing on who’s not analyzed, then I can’t help you there.

  4. Hello! First of all I’d like to thank you for making these posts and videos, there are many times when I see commenting and using musical vocabulary wrong. I really do hope they find your videos/posts. Anyway I’ve always been wondering about seventeen’s Dk and Vromance vocals from a professional standpoint. If it’s ok, can I ask you to analyze one of them? If not, thanks anyway for taking some time out to read this comment 😊

    1. Well thank you so much for your support and love! As you see we already have a list of future analyses and in that list both DK and Vromance are already included!

    1. Jinwoo does not support and his voice has absolutely no weight. He is most definitely a tenor and that has always been clear. The lowest note in this clip that you sent was G#3, which is really not a low note at all. I’m not sure where you’re hearing the husky lower range, but he’s not really singing low and unfortunately I don’t think we’d analyze his vocal technique. I apologize.

    1. Eunwoo doesn’t really support fully. She’s very tight when she sings, with mostly a high larynx. Her pitch is good, her voice is pretty but her runs can be a bit messy and she lacks consistent support. This is better than I usually hear from her though.

  5. Would it be against the rules When you could analyse Jessi ?? since she is a singer who also can rapper. But she debuted as a great singer ! It would be so great 😊

    1. Her placement is in lower inside her mouth, her throat and then in her nose. She doesn’t really lift her soft palate, she doesn’t place the sound forward nor high enough. She doesn’t open up, she doesn’t connect. There’s a lot of raspy scratchiness coming from the lack of connection between her vocal cords. Her tone reminds me of an untrained Baek Yerin. She barely has a mix, she’s mostly going into a very raspy head voice. It’s not the most challenging song when it comes to dynamics because the song doesn’t go anywhere.

      1. It’s funny you mentioned Baek Yerin because she actually covered Bye Bye My Blue. I know the video is short but how did she do ??I hope you don’t mind me posing other videos of but she said that she was preparing to study opera in college which leads me to believe that she already had some sort of vocal training.

      2. You’re welcome to post these videos and if we eventually decide she’ll be the vocalist from LOONA we’d analyze, then they’ll be useful.

    1. I’m sorry but I cannot do that. We have a rule in which we do not answer video questions about vocalists we won’t write full analyses for. Which means non-kpop vocalists are always excluded. I do apologize. No need to delete the comment, it can help other people find out that we don’t answer these questions. ^ ^

    1. Well the exercises in vocal tips #8 focus on developing proper vocal cord connection and air management while keeping the vocal cords exercised in a quieter volume. The two note exercise is great for focusing on dynamics and developing support over pushing.

  7. Hello
Can I ask u about what does husky mean?
    In the voice type??
    is D.O husky ?
    Is V husky ?
    Is jungle husky ?
    Is sungjae husky ?
Is it a baritone thing ? Or like a light lyric tenor thing ?
    Thank u

    Like

    1. It’s got nothing to do with voice type. Husky is a rough kind of thick and raspy quality. Most people use it loosely and interchangeably with raspy or even throaty. I don’t find that any of these vocalists aside from Junhoe sing in a husky way.

By the way did you listen to the new GG gidle I am super curious about them I am definitely sure that miyeon is weak vocalists to maybe average but how about yuqi the girl with the deep voice if you watched any of gidle MV. I believe yuqi and Minnie are the best vocalists in gidle .thank you so much for taking time to consider my questions. 😘😘😘

    1. Hi dear! I’m sorry we have just been busy with so many other aspects of our lives but we are alive and well! As for that group I have not had a chance to listen to them yet.

  10. Hi! Do you think Yuqi from (G)-I-DLE is a mezzo-soprano? Even her speaking voice sounds lower. And did she support in this clip? She was so husky, I’m not sure ^^

  11. Hello, can you please analyze Jessi H.O, I know she’s a rapper but many people say her vocal is underated and that makes me curious about her. Thank you

    1. Please do ask such questions only in our future analyses list. Unfortunately, we aren’t taking requests, but Pandayeu has expressed an interest in analyzing WJSN’s Dawon.

    1. Oh hello. Well if you look at this list, you’ll notice no vocalist who debuted in 2015 or later has been analyzed yet. So that would include Twice, Seventeen, Gfriend, Blackpink, etc.

  12. Nice to meet you. This question is completely unrelated to this post, but suddenly I think and ask. Why sohyang’s vocal analysis article was erased?

    Like

    1. Because it wasn’t well written nor in depth enough compared to the standards of all the other analyses. It was incomplete and didn’t do Sohyang justice.

  13. Hi, Ahmin! I just discovered Day6 and I am so amazed by Young K’s vocal range. I hope you could make an analysis on his voice. Thank you.

  14. hey ahmin, hope you are doing well. I was just wandering if there will be another vocal analysis that will be posted this year? I know you are probably busy living in korea and such so maybe it’s too much of an ask?ㅠㅠ

  15. Hi do you still taking any request?
If so please make an analysis of kim jaehwan and ha sungwoon. Former wanna one member which now going solo.

  16. Hey ahmin, I was wondering if you could analyze this video for Jo Yuri of Iz*one, as I think she has very good runs throughout this rendition, how was her vocals at 0:30? Was she supporting properly? Is her mix too heady? How are her runs at 0:39, because I’ve seen idols like Wendy attempt that and weren’t as smooth transitions. Any ways I love your blog and I am always checking in to see what artist you’ve review! https://youtu.be/Bo81gCCBZio

  17. Can i ask you something about non Kpop artist?, Since i don’t understand so much things about singing with proper technique
So many people saying Dimash Kudaibergen have the best technique in the World, is it true?, some even said that he’s so much better than Sohyang, Mariah, Whitney and other great singers
I’m just not sure about him, because some people said his technique is not good at all, I don’t really understand, myself think that he’s not that good
I wish you can answer this childish and stupid question

    Like

    1. Hi dear. I will only answer the core of the question which is.. is he the best vocalist in the world? No, he’s not. You can only claim someone is the best vocalist in the world if you have listened to every vocalist ever in the world singing. If you haven’t, then you can’t make an absurd claim like that. If anyone said that, it’s an exaggeration.

      Like

      1. No no baby you’re not childish nor is your question and I’m sorry I’ve become a Scrooge.

      2. I’m so sorry for asking about this non-Kpop artist again, but i’m super curious (I’m so so sorry)
Can i ask you one more question? Does Dimash supporting most of his notes? many people says he can easily go up to mid or even higher 5th octaves without straining? I don’t believe their opinion, Because i can only believe in your analysis rather than online “vocal coach” in youtube, some even says his sustained F5/F#5 in his performance are resonance, and some says he even doesn’t support his Eb4, i don’t know which one is right, I know he has 5-6 octaves range, but i remember that is not the best way to rate a vocalist, I’m so sorry, but i’m just way too curious now, and i only believe in this analysis team, Again, so sorry, it’s okay if you don’t want to answer my question, but if you want to, I’ll be very happy😊
        Have a good time
        Thank You

      3. I don’t know if he supports most of his notes but again that’s a very strong argument. I don’t know many vocalists who support most of their range. I’m so sorry but I don’t know dimash well enough to tell you exactly where his supported ranhe starts nor ends..

  19. Hi sorry I posted this somewhere else but I don’t know if you saw it “I need help on my head voice if you would be so kind to try and help I would very much appreciate that, so sometimes I just can’t get my head voice out or even a falsetto and I don’t use much air but I have to push really hard and I don’t know how to get past it.(also how can I have more ease going higher without getting too overly loud, I get super loud around C#5)”
